Our Company
A School Built for the Second Half of Life
We opened in Bangkok with a single conviction: that people navigating major life transitions deserve financial instruction shaped around their actual circumstances, not the assumptions of a general audience.

How suvarnabas Came to Be
suvarnabas was founded in 2017 by a small group of Bangkok-based financial planners and educators who had noticed something in their individual client work: the people who most needed clear financial guidance were often the least well-served by what was available to them.
Large seminars moved too quickly. General finance courses assumed a younger starting point. Online resources covered the basics without engaging with Thailand's specific legal and tax structures. And almost nothing addressed the emotional weight of making financial decisions after a significant life change.
From that observation, the school took shape — not as a large institution, but as a deliberate, small-cohort learning centre in Thonglor, Bangkok, designed to be genuinely useful to adults in their forties, fifties, and early sixties.
Our Mission
What We Are Here to Do
We exist to help adults at midlife and beyond build a clear, honest understanding of their financial position — and the knowledge to make considered decisions from that position, without pressure, without haste, and without jargon.
We believe that financial understanding is not a product to be sold but a capacity to be developed. That development requires time, good instruction, space for questions, and materials that a person can keep and return to. We aim to provide all of these.
Our Values
- Patience — no curriculum is worth rushing
- Honesty — we do not tell people what they want to hear
- Specificity — Thai context, your situation, real numbers
- Respect — our learners are adults with full lives
The Teaching Team
Practitioners, Not Theorists
Each course is led by someone who continues to work in their field. Their knowledge is current and rooted in the realities of the Thai financial environment.
Kanya Suthipong
Lead Financial Planner
A certified financial planner with eighteen years of practice in Bangkok, Kanya leads the eight-week and eleven-week courses. Her work centres on the financial realities of midlife transition, and she brings to each cohort the same directness and care she applies in her individual client practice.
Prayuth Mongkol
Thai Inheritance Attorney
Prayuth practices inheritance and family property law in Bangkok. He contributes to the Comprehensive Later-Life programme, explaining Thai estate structures, the practical use of wills and trusts, and the often misunderstood distinction between Thai statutory inheritance and personal estate planning.
Aranya Thanakit
Healthcare Cost Specialist
Aranya spent a decade advising on health insurance structures in Thailand before joining the teaching team. She helps learners in the senior programme understand the real costs of healthcare in later life, evaluate existing insurance coverage honestly, and plan for conditions not currently covered by Social Security or workplace schemes.
Our Standards
How We Maintain the Quality of Our Work
These are not aspirational statements. They describe what we do in practice, and what we hold ourselves accountable to with each cohort.
Professional Credentials
All teaching practitioners hold current professional certifications in their respective fields. Certifications are reviewed annually and any regulatory updates are reflected in course content within the same intake cycle.
Participant Privacy
Financial situations shared within cohort sessions and individual mentoring conversations are treated as strictly confidential. Participants do not share personal figures with the group; workbooks remain private. We comply fully with Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act.
Annual Curriculum Review
Each course is reviewed before every new intake. Thai tax rules, Social Security contribution thresholds, inheritance law updates, and financial product conditions are checked against current regulation and updated as needed.
Cohort Size Discipline
We have never exceeded stated cohort limits to fill seats. When a programme reaches capacity, we open a new intake rather than adding participants. This is a deliberate operational constraint we take seriously.
Post-Cohort Feedback
Every cohort completes a structured feedback process thirty days after completion. Responses inform curriculum adjustments and instructor development. We share aggregate findings with teaching staff and, where relevant, with prospective participants on request.
Materials That Endure
Course materials are designed for continued personal use, not just in-session reference. Workbooks use durable formats, clear language, and layouts that remain useful when reviewed months after a course concludes.
Financial Education in Bangkok for Adults at Midlife and Beyond
Bangkok presents a particular set of financial conditions for residents navigating later-life decisions. Thai inheritance law operates differently from the assumptions of many expatriate learners. Social Security contribution structures, provident fund regulations, and the cost trajectory of private healthcare in Thailand all require specific knowledge rather than adapted foreign frameworks.
suvarnabas exists at the intersection of these realities. Working from our Thonglor centre in Bangkok's Watthana district, we serve both Thai nationals and long-term residents who find themselves at a meaningful financial crossroads — whether that is a career transition in the fifties, a relationship change requiring account restructuring, or a deliberate effort to organise retirement income and estate arrangements before the need becomes urgent.
Our approach is distinguished by deliberate smallness: small cohorts, small teaching teams, and a willingness to slow down at the moments when a topic deserves more than a single session. We work with adults who are thoughtful about their circumstances and want instruction that honours that thoughtfulness.
